Have you ever wondered why we as humans are always running around chasing our tails?

I believe we were created to be active. Sometimes that can play out in activity that is less than healthy, but the truth is we were never meant to rest on our backsides doing nothing.

I have had two hips replaced, have a bad knee and terrible back issues; and though my mobility is limited my brain is running a thousand miles an hour.

The truth is I must stay active.

So what’s the answer for those of us with limited mobility?

Keep your mind and spirit active. Engage in conversation with others, stay connected with people, pray and meditate on spiritual literature, practice mindfulness and surround yourself with challenges. Learn the art of taking minute vacations and make sure to compliment at least three people every day.

Most importantly keep in an attitude of gratitude. Grateful people rarely offend others but find themselves to be a positive force within their communities.

These are the activities of the less mobile. These are the freedoms of the heart.

Getting Out of My Own Way!

“We never apologize for God. Instead we let Him demonstrate through us what He can do.”

~Alcoholics Anonymous Third Edition Pg. 68

Today as I review my inventory I ask myself if I have done anything that would cause others to view my creator in a negative light. If I have done my best to allow God to shine through me then I continue to grow in my relationship with others, however if I am not an accurate representative of His love and grace, my relationship with others is polluted. When this happens I ask God to renew my spirit and give me deeper insight in how to get out of His way so He can be most effective in and through me.

Almost every time I seek His counsel he speaks to my heart in that still small voice and says, “Son, I am not intimidated by you being in my way, what you need to do is get out of your own way.”
