Radical Acceptance

ABOUT THIS SHOW: Radical Acceptance is about much more than accepting life on life’s terms but accepting our recovery on God’s terms.  It’s difficult to accept what you don’t want to be true, but the reality is, it’s much more painful to not accept it. Join the Monty’man and CADC ll Dave Fleming on this episode of Entitled to Overcome, Solutions for Life Today as we discuss the importance of acceptance, what it is and what it isn’t.

Klay’s Victory Report

ABOUT THIS SHOW: Raised in a good Christian home Klay probably never thought his life would take the turn it did, but from day one of his college experience, Klay began experimenting with mind altering substances such as alcohol and marijuana. After consuming many different types of narcotics his drug abuse turned into drug addiction and before he could get a handle on it, he was taking 200 pills a week of opiate based pain medication and at one point he was taking 17 pills at a time. Tune into today’s show as our guest shares his experience, strength and hope and how the recovery process at Teen Challenge of Arizona through the power of God turned his life around. Now Klay is helping others to recover from life controlling issues as the Dean of Men at the Tucson Men’s Induction Center, Teen Challenge of Arizona.

Sticks and Stones

THE TAKE 12 RECOVERY RADIO SHOW

Topic: Sticks & Stones, the Profanity, and the Profane.

‘Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me’ is a stock response to verbal bullying in school playgrounds throughout the English-speaking world. It sounds a little antiquated these days and has no doubt been superseded by more streetwise comebacks. A response to an insult, implying that “You might be able to hurt me by physical force but not by insults”. But as men and women in recovery we know this to be anything but true. Word’s are powerful, they hurt, traumatize and can even lead to death. The profanity and the profane simply do us no good. Closing Song: Sunny Day by Tom Storms www.tomstormsproductions.com

Alcoholics ONLY

THE TAKE 12 RECOVERY RADIO SHOW (Topic: Alcoholics Only)

Some would argue that Alcoholics Anonymous is only for Alcoholics, others would say it’s all-inclusive. One thing is for sure, the opinions are as broad as the fellowship is large. There are three types of approaches to this issue. The A.A. literature, of which much has been written on the topic, the bleeding deacon approach that many times comes from what is described as the AA purist and then there are the opinions that often times have little to do with either. In this episode of the Take 12 Recovery Radio Show, we will only scratch the surface of this topic, but there is a question we should all ask ourselves and that question is not posed enough. Find out what that question is and why it’s so important. Also, Toni is back from sabbatical and Cecil has a little song for her on her first day back as our chipper cohost.

Contentment

ENTITLED TO OVERCOME
(Solutions for Life, Today) A production of Take 12 Recovery Radio

Topic: CONTENTMENT

Contentment is a mental or emotional state of satisfaction drawn from being at ease in one’s situation, body, and mind. Contentment could be a state of having accepted one’s situation and is the largest piece in the art of emotional sobriety.
Being emotional dependent or discontented can be a trigger for many in recovery.
Are you the kind of person that views the grass as being greener on the other side of the fence of life? Have you ever chased after something only to find that you were right where you were supposed to be all along? Do you believe that you can be content with the statement God makes in the Good Book, “I will never leave you or forsake you”?

Newcomer

THE TAKE 12 RECOVERY RADIO SHOW

When we are Newcomers to the rooms of recovery, our experience can be less than settling, more unnerving than anything else. It doesn’t really matter what brought us to the rooms, the important thing now is that we are here. What are some of the things Old-Timers should be sensitive to when it comes to Newcomers? How can we help them to feel welcome, appreciated and not shamed? If the newcomer is truly the most important person in any meeting, why are they sometimes treated less than? What are some of the things newcomers may hear in a Twelve Step meeting that will encourage them to keep coming back? What are some of the things that may make them feel less than welcome?
