Hands Across the Bridge 2019

ABOUT THIS SHOW: Hands Across the Bridge is an annual event held every year during September, (National Recovery Month). Across the world the recovery community meets to celebrate recovery from addiction and mental health challenges and to remember those we have lost. It’s a time when thousands gather across their local bridges to honor fallen loved ones and to support those currently in recovery and encourage those who may need recovery. Take 12 Recovery Radio is proud to be a sponsor for the Salem, Oregon event and to interview the men and women who participated in today’s celebration. This show includes an interview with our state legislator, Mr. Mike Marshall from www.OregonRecovers.org

This event is brought to you by the Marion/Polk Peer Coalition.
Special Thanks to: ROCC, The Recovery Outreach Community Center.

Controversial Recovery Questions

ABOUT THIS SHOW: Listeners have sent in several pages of questions regarding recovery topics and issues. In this episode, Denver, Dave, Marv and the Monty’man answer such questions as: Should churches have recovery pastors? Can you mention your Higher Power’s name in a meeting? Can you have more than one Sponsor? Is A.A. watered down more on the West Coast than in the East? How should we treat Newcomers? If your Sponsor relapses can they still be your Sponsor?

CLOSING SONG: By the Book by Michael and the Messengers.

Our Burning Bush

ABOUT THIS SHOW: I wonder how many of us have had expectations of immediate change just because we walked through the doors of recovery and have been sitting in meetings for a while? Are we looking for a white light experience or a burning bush or are we missing the little signs all along the way due to our own egos? Are we expecting others to celebrate our new-found freedoms with the same enthusiasm as we have or do we understand why they may be hesitant to jump up and down for us?

Confusing Meeting Attendance with Working a Program

ABOUT THIS SHOW: They say in order to experience a healthy recovery we need to “Trust God, Clean House and Help Others” But sometimes there is a disconnect and we think that meeting attendance is working a program. On today’s show we discuss the controversial issue of confusing meeting attendance with working an actual program of recovery. How important is meeting attendance and are Twelve Step meetings the only form of a healthy recovery? These questions and more on this week’s show.
