Our Leaders are but Trusted Servants; they DO NOT GOVERN!

ABOUT THIS SHOW: In 12-Step groups, there is no such thing as individual authority. No one member “directs” or “controls” the actions of the other members of the group. Join Margie, Marv and the Monty’man as they discuss the problem that occurs when trusted servants become domineering dictators, a violation of the Second Tradition.

Welcoming the Newcomer

ABOUT THIS SHOW: Is the Newcomer the most important person in a Twelve Step meeting? How should members of our recovery groups approach the Newcomer who perhaps is scared, shaky and bewildered? What about the way we talk about our personal views on outside issues in a meeting? Can this cause a newcomer to feel alienated? Monty shares several stories of listeners as they share their experience as Newcomers and how they were treated when they first walked into the rooms of recovery. CLOSING SONG: We’re Glad You’re Here by Conley White.

HIGHER POWER SPECIFIC in the TWELVE STEP ROOMS

ABOUT THIS SHOW: A listener writes in to share how she was shut down in her AA meeting for mentioning her Higher Power by name. Monty and the team discuss the issue of being Higher Power Specific in the Twelve Step Rooms. Also, Monty slams the commercials and half-time show broadcast at this year’s Super Bowl. He’s not at all pleased and makes no apologies for his view on the issue.
